Test one.
So this is a random new experiment, brought to you by: The Foundation For a Better Root Beer. And me of course. It all began when my friend and I stopped by the local Walgreen's for some beverages and candy. I noticed a root beer that read: "no high fructose corn syrup" on the front of the bottle. How convenient. (: So I also noticed: this brand of soda was on sale, three for three dollars. Why the heck not. So I chose: Root beer, Cream soda, and Black cherry soda <3
The official experiment objective(s):
To quantitatively and qualitatively test various brands of root beer, or soda beverage using sassafras/sarsaparilla as the main taste component, and to have The Ultimate Root Beer Experience.
Quantitative measurements: price per single unit of beverage/price per measurement (PPM), given in both milliliters and fluid ounces. Because my spectrophotometer is currently broken (thanks Allen), I won't be able to test the absorption of light.
Qualitative measurements: taste, color, fizzyness, or the amount the beverage foams open first opening and/or pouring into a cup, smell.
Miscellaneous observations: general appearance, being label, container, shape.
Observation one: Deerfield Gourmet Soda, Old Fashioned Root Beer. 473 ml/ 16 oz. Price was 3/$3, or $1.29 per soda. I purchased three, so this particular soda cost exactly one dollar. PPM is 4.73 ml/penny, or 16 oz/dollar. The container is made of glass, the label is very simple, no appealing colors, assumption formed: let the soda speak for itself. Shape is general, almost old fashioned as the name suggest. The soda itself appears to be red when held to a light. Upon opening there was hardly any fizzing, if any at all. This does not mean the soda had no "sting" to it. On the Rachel scale, the intensity of Root Beer Flavorings, or R2B2, would be given a 6.0 out of 10.0, where a 1.0 indicates hardly any root beer flavor at all, and a 10.0 indicates sassagasm. The smell is root beery in nature, but nothing to waft at. This being the first of an unknown number of root beer tests, I give this soda a rating of O.K.
Would drink again, if only on sale.
